Pt100 sensors are the most widely used type of platinum resistance thermometers. Although the term "Pt100 sensor" is often used generically for resistance thermometers, it specifically refers to sensors made from platinum (Pt) that exhibit a resistance of 100 ohms (Ω) at 0°C.

This particular sensor features a 2-wire configuration and a threaded design, making it suitable for direct mounting into process lines or equipment where reliable and accurate temperature measurement is essential.

Pt refers to that the sensor is made from Platinum (Pt). 100 refers to that at 0°C sensor has a resistance of 100 ohms (Ω).

RTDs (Resistance Temperature Detectors) are precision temperature sensors that operate based on the principle that a resistor’s resistance changes predictably with temperature. Among RTDs, the Pt100 is the most commonly used type, named for its platinum (Pt) sensing element and 100 ohms resistance at 0°C.

Pt100 sensors have earned a strong reputation in both laboratory and industrial settings for their accuracy, stability, and repeatability. Most standard Pt100 sensors comply with DIN-IEC Class B, ensuring consistent performance across a wide range of applications.

The RTD element is typically a fine platinum wire wound around a ceramic or glass core. Due to its delicate nature, the element is enclosed in a sheathed probe to provide mechanical protection. Its high immunity to electrical noise makes the Pt100 particularly suitable for use in electrically noisy environments such as near motors, generators, and high-voltage equipment.

The 3-wire ring RTD sensor is designed with a copper sensing element and operates effectively within a temperature range of -40°C to 450°C. It utilizes a 3-wire connection system to enhance measurement accuracy by minimizing the effects of lead wire resistance.

The PT100 6-Wire Duplex RTD (Resistance Temperature Detector) Sensor is a high-accuracy temperature sensing device designed for critical industrial applications. It features two independent PT100 sensing elements in a single probe (duplex configuration), allowing for redundant or simultaneous temperature measurement in a single point.

The 6-wire configuration enhances measurement accuracy by minimizing lead wire resistance effects, ensuring highly reliable and precise readings — especially over longer cable distances. This setup is ideal for processes where fail-safe operation or signal verification is essential.
